Stay here at Waipu Caves Farm Park
Tent sites and Motorhome sites available spread over 3 different area.
We opened the camp in 2023 and there is some construction still being done in some areas. Some of our buildings are temporary portacoms which will be replaced with permanent buildings over the next few years.
Our camp ground.
We are in a sheltered forested valley away from the coast. A small rocky river flows through the valley and there are lots of limestone boulders and rocks as well as our cave. The campground is part of a privately owned conservation and recreation park. The camp is a dark skies area so we do not have lighting everywhere, so bring your torch.
We are also fully off grid for electricity and have our own solar power station.
We have 3 camping areas each comfortably handle about 75 people and have 30 sites each.
Camp area B is mostly tent sites and 3 non-powered vehicle sites There is a shared kitchen, toilets and showers.
There is a firepit with firewood supplied. The fire must not be used when
windy or during a fire ban and must be fully watered until dead each night after use.
Camp area C is mostly motorhome sites, some with power/electricity with shared kitchen, toilet and shower.
Camp area D has mostly tents sites and suits people with there own cookers etc. Shared toilet.
Our tent sites.
Tent sites are large 9m x 9m square or 9m x 8m (4 sites in area C).
TENT SITES are for TENTS ONLY so NO VEHICLES.
No vehicles can drive on these sites as there is a fence to stop them. This makes it safe for children.
Parking is close by the tents sites.
If you are a ROOF TENT VEHICLE you will need to book a motorhome site with a gravel base.
Our motorhome/vehicle sites.
All motorhome/vehicle sites have a gravel base. No vehicles are to park on grass.
Roof tents on vehicles are vehicles and not tents. These must be in motorhome/vehicle sites.
Most motorhome/vehicle sites are 8m x 6m some are as large as 12m x 5m.
We have 5 sites with power/electricity. and 18 with no power.
What to do here while staying.
There is plenty to do here while on your stay. There are 2 different guided tour into the Milky Way Glowworm Cave. There are free things, such as bush walking, swimming in the river, bouldering, rock climbing, hut building, obstacle course and relaxing.
What to do nearby.
Our local area has lots of beaches, good for walking, swimming, surfing etc as well as cafes and restaurants, there are bush walks and art galleries and museums.
We are a Destination, not a Stop Over.
We provide a camping place for visitors to stay, spend the day, maybe several, visit our Milky Way Glowworm Cave, go bush walking, bouldering or rock climbing, swimming in the river, and much more, relax and have a break at our park.
We are NOT A STOP OVER.
This means if you are intending to arrive late and leave early the next day to go somewhere else without spending any time here, then we recommend you stay somewhere else that is more suited to your style of travel.
People who come late and leave early are disruptive to the people who want to stay and enjoy our park.
Gate and Office hours.
Peak Season - around Christmas and summer holidays 8am to 7pm.
Mid Season - Autumn and Spring 8am to 5pm.
Low Season - Winter 8.30am to 4pm.
When you book to stay you can come in and out through the gates.
Keep them shut to stop other people coming in.
Closed Days
The office is closed Christmas Day. If you have booked you can come in. Make sure you shut the gate.
Camp Fees
Tent sites and non-power motorhome sites.
First night $25 first adult, $20 extra adults, $15 per child (age 5-17) $0 per preschool (age 0-4).
7th night is free.
Powered motorhome sites.
First night $29 first adult, $24 extra adults, $19 per child (age 5-17) $0 per preschool (age 0-4).
7th night is free.
Hot showers use a $2 coin for 5 minutes, or free for cold.
Camp Rules
NO PETS which means NO DOGS or NO CATS anywhere on the property.
SMOKING or VAPING - Smoking tobacco/cigarettes or vaping is only permitted in your
own vehicle or tent and nowhere else.
DRUGS & ALCOHOL - No intoxicated behaviour.
VEHICLES - Don't drive or park on the grass tent sites as there is plenty of parking on gravel.
Don't drive past the sign which NO VISITOR VEHICLES BEYOND THIS POINT.
Speed limit is 10km/h (walking quickly speed) in the car park, in camp areas.
PARTIES - no parties unless you have booked the entire camp for this purpose.
NOISE - Quiet at 10pm to 8am. No loud music. Be considerate of others. NEW YEARS NIGHT (31st December)
tolerance of noise is extended to 1am but you must be considerate of others and keep volumes low.
MOTORHOME/CARAVAN WASTE WATER - Absolutely no chemical waste treatment chemicals into our septic system.

We welcome group booking, Schools and Youth groups.
School and Youth group fees are $15 per person. Get in contact by email is best.
